I’ll always think Amsterdam is a great city to visit. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re looking to take in the views, go sightseeing, learn more about Dutch history, stroll along the beautiful canals, or sample some tasty food. However, it’s not a cheap city to stay in, especially when it comes to finding budget hotels in Amsterdam City Centre, where all the major attractions are.
For a long time, I was bothered by the fact that so many bad hotels dared ask exorbitant prices for subpar service. Fortunately, this has been changing majorly in the last few years as more hotels open their doors and ask for decent rates. So here’s a list of some of the nicest cheap hotels in Amsterdam City Centre.

10 of the Best Hotels in Amsterdam City Centre
The Student Hotel
Address: Wibautstraat 129, Oost, 1091 GL
Just a 15-minute walk to the center is The Student Hotel. It’s quite a hip hotel, and it offers a lot in its common areas from its library, workstations, café, and gym.
Address: Lindengracht 251, Amsterdam City Centre, 1015 KH
Linden Hotel is one of the best choices in terms of location. It’s right on the canals in the center of the city. I’m pretty in love with the color blue on the room walls as well! It’s situated in an 18th-century building, and it offers comfortable rooms with free wifi.
Room Mate Aitana

Are you looking for a room with breathtaking views? Then this is the hotel for you. It’s not far from Central Station and has fantastic views over Amsterdam-Noord. The rooms are all decorated in different styles.
The Jonker Urban Studios & Suites

The De Jonker Studios are self-service, which means that you can check in and out yourself. They’re fully equipped and decorated in a modern style with classic details. The building is located near Artis, and you’ll find a number of nice restaurant and cafes nearby.
Address: Noorderstraat 74, Amsterdam City Center, 1017 TW
The beautiful La Remise is decorated in dark, sultry tones. The luxurious B&B is just a short walk from many huge attractions, such as the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum. Luxury is apparent even in the smallest details, from color schemes to fabrics to featured artwork.

True rock stars must stay at this hotel, which is decorated with a nod to the artist life. The hotel is also not far from Leidseplein, and for concerts, you can go to nearby Paradiso. Some rooms come with shared bathrooms.
Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel
Address: Apollolaan 2, Oud Zuid, 1077 BA
Located in a historic building in Oud-Zuid is the fully refurbished Apollo Hotel. It sits right on the water, with its own terrace where you can sip on a nice drink while enjoying the views. The rooms have beds that are so nice, they’ve won awards, and the luxurious bathrooms are full of fragrant toiletries.
Address: Prinses Irenestraat 30, Zuideramstel, 1077 WX
The CitizenM chain has turned hotels into something exciting again. In their hotels, you can control everything in your bedroom with an iPad, from watching the best movies to even changing the color of your lights. How nice is that ?! The hotel is slightly further from the center, in the South, but with public transport, you can get to the center fairly quickly.
Hotel Not Hotel
Address: Piri Reisplein 34, De Baarsjes, 1057 KH
The confusing name is perhaps less confusing than the interior. For example, you can sleep in a van with a stripper pole! Or sleep in one of the other rooms, designed by artists. It promises to be an overnight stay that you will never forget.
Address: Tempelhofstraat 2, Westpoort, 1043 EC
This hotel is located in Sloterdijk, but you can easily get to the center quickly. The beautiful studios of Hotel2Stay are decorated in pastel colors, and you have your own kitchen. Also handy: you can rent a bicycle at the reception.
