The romantic city of Bruges in Belgium is the stuff of fairytales (get the reference?). It’s the ultimate weekend getaway, and even in a day you’ll get plenty done in this compact UNESCO-heritage listed city centre. In the compact town, which is easily walkable you’ll be met with the most charming buildings from the middle-ages, some of them housing museums, others restaurants and others hotels. In this guide I won’t just be sharing a map of Bruges with my recommendations, but also my favourite sights to see in Bruges, the best cheap eats in Bruges, and some recommended hotels. Here’s what to to do in Bruges in one day (hint: one of them is eating!).
Antwerp is one of those cities I can always return to. It feels like a second home, because teenaged Milou used to pop over the border for some retail therapy. It would take me only half an hour later of train travel until I found myself walking towards the Meir and leaving again a few hours later with quite the collection of shopping bags and an empty bank account.
Ever since I moved to a different city, further away from the Belgian border, I don’t visit Antwerp that much anymore. And if I go, I usually only visit for one day, I hardly ever stay over. Such a shame, because it’s a lovely city. However: I’ve been so many times now that I have a clear list of favorite things to do in Antwerp, so here they are!
I love living in Europe. It’s not uncommon for me to decide on an ordinary Saturday that I’m going to drive to another country. Ghent is a great option for a day visit or even a weekend stay. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s super affordable. Here’s my city guide to Ghent with the ultimate must see & do’s!
